====== DADOS Calibration Lamp ====== ☚ [[pispectro_en|🇬🇧 English]] | [[0x0019|🇩🇪 German]] //The DADOS calibration lamp is cost-effective and typically used for calibrating astronomical spectra (https://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/dados-neon-calibration-lamp.html). It emits visually noticeable orange spectral lines with known wavelengths. Once these lines are identified, a quite accurate calibration can be performed, as shown below.// {{:pispectro:neon_3.jpg?200 |}} The calibration lamp does not light up when exposed to external light. It has a twilight switch that only activates it in sufficient darkness. Therefore, a holder (3D-printed) was developed so that the lamp can be used with the spectrometer. ===== DADOS Spectrum with piSpectro ===== ^ **piScectroscope** // Spectroscope and DADOS calibration lamp with holder //^ |{{ :pispectro:dados-pi.png?600 |}}| |A 3D-printed holder securely and precisely holds the DADOS calibration lamp on the spectroscope – this helps ensure quick and reliable calibration.| ^ **piScectroscope** // Spectroscope and DADOS calibration lamp with holder //^ |{{ :pispectro:dados-freecad.png?200 |}}| |FreeCAD view of the holder.| ==== DADOS Reference Spectrum ==== Based on the published spectral lines from Baader Planetarium as well as precise neon spectral data from NIST, **a compact reference database for the DADOS calibration lamp was created**. This can be imported into your own spectra when needed to allow quick and reliable calibration. The corresponding reference spectrum is shown in the image below. It serves as a visual guide and facilitates the identification of characteristic neon lines, which is especially helpful for the initial calibration. ==== DADOS piSpectro ==== ---- | piSpectro calibration with DADOS | |{{ :pispectro:dados-cal-01.png?600 |}}| |{{ :pispectro:dados-cal-06.png?800 |}}| |Shown is the piSpectro calibration with the associated reference spectrum. For this, the DADOS reference spectrum was overlaid to facilitate the calibration. Then calibration was performed. A very good match between the theoretical line spectrum and the actually recorded spectrum can be seen.| ===== Additional Sources ===== ---- Information from the Baader homepage {{ :pispectro:neon_1.png?700 |}} ---- //Calibration of an energy-saving lamp and a neon lamp as calibration light sources for the DADOS slit spectrograph Thesis Kopernikus Gymnasium School Year 2008/2009// {{ :pispectro:neon-2.png?700 |}}
